Honest Mechanic Data Deletion
Honest Mechanic does not require an account with an email address and password. The app assigns an anonymous owner and uses a durable, device-linked identity to connect app data to that owner.
Delete Your Account And Data In The App
The primary deletion method is available directly in the app: Account → Data & Privacy → Delete account and data → confirm.
After you confirm, Honest Mechanic completes the deletion directly inside the app. You do not need to sign in, create another account, visit a website, or send an email.
If you cannot access the app or need assistance, email privacy@honestmechanic.ai. Email is an alternative support option, not a requirement for in-app deletion.
What Deletion Covers
Deleting your account removes the anonymous owner and associated data, including where applicable:
- scan records and result history;
- PrePurchase, Quick Scan, DTC-only, and Guardian result data;
- vehicle records tied to that anonymous owner;
- Help Chat and Result Chat conversations/messages;
- AI usage metadata and usage counters;
- report/result metadata tied to that anonymous owner.
Purchase And Legal Records
Certain purchase, product, transaction, entitlement, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, or compliance records may be retained when legally necessary. Honest Mechanic may also retain records needed to resolve purchase disputes or restore purchased access.
Deleting your Honest Mechanic account does not automatically cancel a subscription managed by Apple or Google. Manage or cancel that subscription through the applicable app store.
Records Not Linked To The Anonymous Owner
Some operational diagnostic validation records are not linked to an anonymous owner. Records that cannot be safely linked are not used to identify that owner and may not be affected by account deletion.
Durable Identity And Recovery Limitations
On compatible devices, reinstalling the app on the same physical device may recover the same anonymous owner when the protected device identity remains available. Recovery is not guaranteed between phones or after a device reset, loss of protected storage, or changes to platform-provided identifiers.
Deleting the account removes the anonymous owner and its associated device-linked identity. Durable identity does not prevent in-app deletion.
